NSW Regional Dentistry Scholarship 2018

Applications are now being sought for the 2018 NSW Regional Dentistry Scholarship.

The NSW Regional Dentistry Scholarship aims to support a student with strong links to regional New South Wales to train for a professional dental career. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student commencing dentistry studies.

It is sponsored by the Nationals Senator for New South Wales John Williams who contributes $4,800 to a first year commencing student.

To be eligible, applicants must:

·         be Australian citizens or permanent residents;

·         have lived in regional New South Wales for at least five years from the age of five; and

·         be commencing full time study in an accredited Australian dentistry degree in 2018.

The successful applicant will be selected on the basis of the length of time they have lived in regional New South Wales; financial need; and a demonstrated commitment to living and working in regional New South Wales.

Experienced Inverell dental practitioner Stuart Watkins will mentor the student in their first year, offering advice and guidance.

Senator Williams said he was pleased to provide the sponsorship again and commended the National Rural Health Alliance for its commitment to regional health.
